Normal Grief Reactions

User Rating: / 0

Grief can impact us in many ways. You may feel like you’re going crazy but there are just some of the normal responses to grief:

  • Presence of strong emotions, deep sobbing, crying
  • Emotional roller-coaster
  • Feeling numb
  • Inability to concentrate or focus
  • Increased sensitivity to noise and activity
  • Changes in eating patterns – unable to eat or eating more than before
  • Yearning and longing for the deceased
  • Constant thoughts of the deceased
  • Changes in sleep patterns - difficulty sleeping or staying asleep
  • Plagued by anger, guilt, and blame (The “what if’s”)
  • Feeling hopeless

Losing someone is hard to accept. When someone you know dies, you are forced to face the reality of death. As hard as the path may seem, if we choose to experience and express the grief by telling our story and sharing our feelings, we can move through the pain.
